When people think of trauma, they have a hard time accepting that their trauma is “bad” enough because someone always has it worse. In counseling, we have Big “T” trauma and Little “t” traumas. Both types of trauma can affect a person’s mental health.

Trauma can come from any of the following:

  • Physical or sexual assault

  • Natural disasters

  • Accidents

  • Emotional or Psychological abuse

  • Witnessing violence or death

  • Sudden loss or grief
